Enjoying a prime location inside one of the Lake District’s most dramatic valleys, this National Trust campsite is ideal for strollers, hikers and climbers alike.

If you think of the Lake District as simply a range of rolling hills and lakes, then you’ve never been to Great Langdale. It is the gateway to such towering peaks as Scafell Pike, Bowfell and White Ghyll, which provide for both a dramatic landscape and a wide range of challenges. Though for those who prefer to ramble than conquer, you will also find Little Langdale and Lingmoor close at hand. It would be hard to think of a more stunning and natural location for a campsite.

A UK Escapes break is all about returning to nature, so you won't find electricity or a fridge in our UK tents. To make your stay comfortable though, a cool box (ice packs available on-site) and lanterns with rechargable batteries are provided.

The Lakes are famous for friendly pubs offering good food and even better beer, and Great Langdale is no exception, having no less than three inns within a short stroll. Ambleside is also just a few minutes away by car, offering a good range of pubs and restaurants as well as a small cinema and museum, while just a little further away you will find Grasmere, one of the lakes’ prettiest villages and home to Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage.
