Duinrell is a lively parc by a fabulous theme park and indoor tropical pool complex, ideal for families with older children.

Duinrell offers a family holiday out of the ordinary. Less than a mile from Wassenaar and two miles from a sandy beach, this parc has excellent facilities and is ideal for a long weekend break. Adjacent to a thrilling theme park*, you can experience rides such as Splash, the Water Spider or the twisting Frog Track roller-coasters. There is also the Tiki tropical waterpark, with some of the most impressive waterchutes in Europe, bound to impress everyone. Please note that there is a charge of €3.50 per person to enter the water park and you will also be required to show a passport photo.

New for Spring 2012! A brand new rollercoaster comes to Duinrell's theme park... Fly through the trees up to 15m from the ground on this exciting new ride!

The parc will be hosting an annual volleyball tournament from 31 May-3 June inclusive, during which time there will be an increased number of people on the site.

*There will be reduced opening hours after the 28th October. The theme park will be open from 11am to 4pm between 29 October and 2 November 2012

Duinrell Themepark

A spectacular experience for old and young alike. Enjoy the thrill of the Dragonfly roller coaster (new for 2012), be sprayed on the Splash or try the breakneck toboggan-run and have a breathtaking adventure in the Mad Mill and many other exciting attractions. The very smallest guests will like the Fairy Tale Wonderland, the Locomotion train, the children’s shows and indoor playground Rick’s Fun Factory. Open 31/3/12 - 3/11/12.

Artis Royal Zoo - Amsterdam

The oldest zoo in Holland founded in 1838. Enjoy the gardens and winding paths, majestic trees, fascinating sculptures and monuments. Over 14 hectares of zoo and 700 animal species which provided an overview of the entire animal kingdom. There is also an aquarium, planetarium and museum. Open all year.

Van Gogh Museum

A visit to the Van Gogh museum is a unique experience. The museum contains the largest collection of paintings by Van Gogh in the world. The museum also holds an extensive offer of exhibitions on various subjects from the 19th Century. Guided tours are available. Open all year apart from 1st January.

Noordwijk Space Expo

Space Expo is Europe's first permanent space exhibition. See what it was like for the first men on the moon. Experience the simulated launch of an 'Ariane' rocket. Discover the world of satellites and find out all about astronauts. Open all year but not everyday.

Keukenhof Gardens

Exhibition of the best and most beautiful flowers in the Netherlands. One of the most photographed sites in the world. Attracting more than half a million visitors each year. Open from mid March to mid May when the tulips are flowering.

Rijks Museum

The largest museum of art and history in the Netherlands. Features paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans, but also has dolls houses, silver and prints. Open all year but not 1st January.

National Museum of Antiquities

The main thread running through the permanent exhibitions are the Romans with over 1000 objects. The presentations consist of objects, scale models, reconstructions, Film and interactive media. Other presentations include Greek history, medieval and Netherlands history plus many more. Open all year apart from some Bank Holidays.

Madame Tussaud's Waxwork Museum

Madame Tussaud's Waxwork Museum takes visitors on a journey through the realms of the famous and the powerful and allows one to relive the times that made the world talk about them. See all your favourite rock stars, movie stars, royals, artists, politicians and world leaders. Open all year apart from 30th April when it's the Queen's birthday.

Anne Frank's House

The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display. Open all year.

Corpus

Something unique has grown in the Netherlands: the world's first: a spectacular experience around the human body. Open all year.

Leiden is another great place to visit and is good for shopping. Luciano's ice cream parlour in Wassenaar was a hit with the kids, had a great choice of flavours and a nice outdoor seating area where you can sit and people-watch. The C1000 supermarket in Wassenaar just a short walk away had a good choice of products and good value, as, too, was the pizza parlour in Wassenaar."

"Madurodam is excellent and is a good stopping point after an overnight ferry journey. Wassenaar market on a Tuesday morning, just a 5 minute walk from the site, is very good value for fruit and veg, cheese, fish etc. Leiden is a nice town, was pleasant even on a grey day. Zaanse Schanse was peaceful despite being busy! Delft was great and had a fantastic pottery/craft market on a Saturday. Rotterdam Zoo is excellent, one of the best we've visited. Amsterdam had some good canal cruises and Noordwijk has an excellent beach and town centre. Volendam and Marken are lovely traditional towns with people dressed in traditional costumes. For car lovers, about 15 minutes' drive from the parc is the Lowman museum, definitely worth a visit for 2 or 3 hours. Finally, note in this region that there are some free parking areas ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours and you can buy a disc from local newsagents to put on your dashboard showing your arrival time."
