Only a short drive from Calais and the Tunnel, this relaxing parc offers a swimming pool with waterchute and retractable roof.

Ideal for a first holiday in France, La Bien Assise is set in the parklands of a graceful château, on the outskirts of the market town of Guînes. It is a member of the prestigious Castels chain and has a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere. The owners have converted the former château stables to house the shop and bar and the restaurant’s menu really is a gourmet’s delight. There’s also a well maintained swimming pool with a retractable roof, waterchute and a popular children’s play area. Traffic from the road can sometimes be heard.

Only conventional swimwear, such as swimming trunks are allowed in the pool.

Out and about

A few minutes from the parc is the Forest of Guînes which is easily explored by foot and bike. Visit Wimereux with its wide beach and good restaurants, or Calais with an excellent range of shops and hypermarkets. The old walled town of Boulogne-sur-Mer is thirty minutes away, where you can visit Nausicaã, Europe’s largest sea-life centre featuring live sharks.

Dennlys Parc is a leisure parc for all the family. Attractions include a waterpark with slides and chutes, various rides and roundabouts, a haunted house, bumper cars and a monorail. There are magic shows and also a working mill to discover. Various places to eat and relax.

Nausicaa

Europe's largest aquarium. 4000 Fish to look at and touch in the various aquariums. There is also a seal pool. Audio guide for hire.

"The local village of Guines is very small and quiet but has a great and interesting history. Its local market on a Friday is very good too. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and a walk in the forest is a must - I came across wild deer and guinea fowl. I'd also recommend a drive along the cost to Wissant then on to Boulogne. Such a lovely drive and lots of war history on the way."

"Berck Plage - a bit of a drive away but worth it for the large clean beach. Dennlys Park is a great theme park, although relatively small. We took 3x 4 year olds, a 12 year old and 4x adults and we all enjoyed ourselves, there's something for everyone. We went at Easter and it was faily quiet so the children got to go on the rides a few times over without having to queue for too long."
