Overview

At a Glance

In the sublime southern Ardèche region, between Provence and the maze of deep valleys and soaring mountains that make up the Cévennes lies this wonderfully situated holiday resort, within 80 hectares of landscaped grounds overlooking the peaks of southern France. The climate here is warm, with sunny afternoons and mild evenings making for long, carefree summer days. The summits of the Cévennes are made up of a succession of natural plateaux, sometimes green like the Mont Aigoual or criss-crossed by lakes and rivers. The main square of your holiday village is where the fun is centred, with shops, bars and restaurants radiating outwards. At the foot of a striking terrace built of local stone there is an exhilarating complex of pools and waterchutes – there's even an artificial river - surrounded by your pastel coloured holiday villas. Inventive children's clubs and first rate sports facilities make this a hard place to leave.

Named after the Ardèche River, incredible views of mountains and valleys are in abundance here. A popular region for kayaking and enthusiasts, there is alwas a medieval town in easy reach around which to stroll.

From the chestnut forests of the Cévennes to the fir forests of the Tanargue, the limestone of the Bas Vivarais and volcanic plateaus of the Massif Central, the Ardèche has always been a welcoming land of refuge. You will be able to explore all its gorges, caves and sinkholes. The Ardèche Gorges: this deep canyon is a magnificent sight from the pretty road along the northern banks of the river. The road starts in Vallon Pont d'Arc, the area’s biggest tourist centre, 10 km from Grospierres. One of France’s most remarkable sites is a few kilometres from the Rouret Estate: the Païolive Wood (*** listed site). This small wood is covered with weird rock formations and impenetrable shrubs. Pont d'Arc. Aven d'Orgnac (30 km) is a natural site tracing a history that began 110 million years ago, when time shaped a fantastic underground world. The prehistory museum presents the prehistoric heritage of the Ardèche and beckons you to discover our ancestors’ life and activities. Balazuc (18 km): a medieval village typical of southern Ardèche, a scenic village ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. It is perched on a rocky spur and surrounded by ramparts and cliffs (20 km south of Aubenas). The Madeleine and Huguenots Caves for those interested in rock art and caving. The Alphonse Daudet Museum in St Alban-Auriolles (4 km). Ruoms Gorges (9 km). Chauvet Cave in Vallon Pont d’Arc (13 km), fabulous conservatory of prehistoric times. The cave, which was discovered in 1994, is the world’s oldest decorated cavern, with over 400 rock paintings that are 30,000 years old.
