Overview
Very much the front-runner when it comes to beautiful new European destinations, Slovenia offers sparkling rivers, fairytale towns, crisp mountain air and long, warm summers.
With its unique location just North of the country’s handsome capital, lies Ljubljana Park, a spacious, sunny site that has recently enjoyed a fresh, contemporary refurbishment, making it one of the most popular spots in central Slovenia. The site attracts both those who fancy a city break, due to its direct bus links to the capital and superb organised excursions; and those who are looking for a week of cultural exploration (when car hire would be recommended). The centre piece of the site, the excellent Laguna Waterpark is open daily from 12-4pm, dependent on weather conditions. A payable indoor waterpark, Atlantis, is also located nearby in the capital. Due to its location, trains and road traffic can be heard on-site.
Around and About
The city of Ljubljana, nestling below the hill fortress of Ljubljana Castle, is a lively, cultural capital of theatres, museums, and galleries, one of the oldest Philharmonics in the world, and a year-round calendar of festivals. The Iški Vintgar, nearby, is a spectacular gorge with rushing rivers and soaring limestone cliffs. The health resort on Rakitna offers cut-price spa treats, while Stièna’s famous Cistercian monastery is a peaceful 12th century retreat set in a remote, pristine valley.
