Underground Lake of Saint Léonard 
St Leonard, situated halfway between Sion and Sierre, has one attraction, which is one of the largest underground lakes in Europe. Buses run there from Sion and Sierre. Tours of the lake by rowing boat take 40 minutes. The entrance is just a small gap in the mountainside giving onto a very impressive cavern

Wine Museum, Sierre 
Housed in the Château de villa, the museum focuses on wine and all aspects of Viticulture. Interesting displays in grape varieties and some old presses. The guardian is knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have on wine

Stockalper Castle 
Situated at the foot of the Simplon pass, the Stockalper Castle is one of the most important buildings in Switzerland. Built between 1658 and 1678, it has a huge inner courtyard with three towers named after the three biblical kings

Grande Dixence Dam 
The Grande Dixence Dam is the tallest concrete gravity dam in the world. It was built between 1951 and 1962 and is 285 mtrs high. There is an information centre for those visitors that are interested technically. There are guided tours of the inside of the dam. There are a number of good walking trails from the dam
