Amsterdam
This cosmopolitan city, thirty miles north-east of Wassenaar, retains much of its traditional charm and character with tall narrow brick houses and a network of canals lined by trees. Visit the Van Gogh Museum with over 800 paintings by the artist on display.
The Hague
A pleasant coastal town said to be one of the most elegant in Holland, with lovely parks and a series of canals.
Delft
Famous worldwide for delftware porcelain, and also one of Holland’s most charming towns.
Edam
The original home of Edam cheese, a small charming town criss-crossed by canals. You can visit an exhibition on cheese making at the old Kaasmarkt here.
