Attractions
The resort: Bénodet, with its old harbour and marina, is located at the mouth of the Odet, on the Cornouaille coast. Two lighthouses, Le Phare du Coq and Le Phare de la Pyramide (191 steps – 48 metres): a panoramic view of the coast from the Bay of Concarneau to the Eckmühl lighthouse and the Glénan Islands out at sea. Churches: Saint-Thomas and Notre Dame de la Mer as well as Perguet Chapel. The Pont de Cornouaille: an elegant 610 m long bridge, overhanging the Odet river by 30 m with a superb view of Bénodet port, Sainte-Marine and the estuary, and the Odet upstream. Les Vedettes de l’Odet (trips on the Odet, a river bordered by 15 châteaux), to the Glénans Islands. The surrounding area: The Artists’ Route in Cornouaille (1850-1950): the Quimper region and the Odet Valley, the Bay of Douarnenez and Cap Sizun, the Bigouden region, Bénodet, the Baie de la Forêt, plus Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Le Pouldu, Quimperlé, Pays des Avens (15-30 km). Quimper (18 km) and its 13th – 19th century Saint-Corentin cathedral, the old districts, the Breton Regional Museum, the Fine Art Museum, earthenware factories and potteries, the Jules Verlinghe earthenware museum, the Romanesque Church, the Bishop’s Palace Garden, the theatre and much more.
