Our Environment

Free Range Holidays

Your eco-conscious holiday

At Keycamp, we are aware of the impact travel and tourism has on the environment, so we try to ensure our activities minimise this impact and support responsible tourism. That's why we always try to use environmentally friendly materials in our accommodation and travel packs and give you the chance to make a difference by providing greener travel options. After all, we all want to ensure the great outdoors stay 'great' for many years to come.

Reduce your carbon footprint

Reduce your Carbon footprint

A Keycamp holiday is much kinder to the environment than many other types of holiday and you can lower your carbon footprint further by choosing a parc that's close to a port or train station.

FSC Certification

We're proud to have achieved FSC certification for printing our brochures on paper from approved, sustainable sources. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. All our material is printed on paper that is 75% and 100% recycled and is manufactured at the Dalum Mill in Denmark - the most environmentally friendly mill in the world. New Award!

Keycamp's efforts have again been recognised and have been awarded the Five Star Award for Responsible Tourism by the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO). This acknowledges the improvements we have made to ensure our holidays and business practices are more environmentally friendly. For further information, visit http://www.aito.co.uk/.

Why we chose to work with Cool Earth

We chose to work with the Cool Earth charity because we wanted to do something which was simple, effective and worthwhile that everyone could easily understand.

What Cool Earth do

Rainforests are worth much more to the human race left standing, helping to cool the planet, than they are cut down for timber or burnt to clear land for agriculture.

  • Cool earth works with local communities to protect rainforest from being cut down, particularly those in imminent danger, and without ther intervention would be cleared.
  • They protect areas with high levels of biodiversity which store at least 260 tonnes of CO² per acre, and that forms a protective blockade for tens of thousands of acres of adjacent forest.
  • They use sponsers' money directly for rainforest protection. Less than 10% of supporters' money is spent on administration.

What you can do to help

When you book a holiday with us, we give you the option of donating £5/€5 per booking with flights, £2/€2 per booking with ferries and £1/€1 per booking with rail.

A great big thank you!

Since January 2009, you've aised over £30,000 for Cool Earth, protecting 600 acres of forest - now that really is cool!

''The Rio Ene Valley is key to saving the Western Amazon. Keycamp's decision to protect it is one of the smartest investments in the planet's future that I've seen.'' John Eliasch, Cool Earth founder and co-chairman & UK government advisor
